This book is very useful. I am an intermediate/power user and already have some basic understanding of how the internet works and what HTML looks like. I currently make small informative web sites for different interest groups and find myself referencing this book more often than web searching.The material covered introduces some basic and intermediate concepts that then rely on the users creativity to determine quality. This very much depends on ones ability to understand new information and how to use it.Thumbs up.

Excellent book. The information was just what I needed to increase my knowledge in this area of web building.

It's okay.

I have browsed over some content. Not yet started to follow along. Once I get a time, I would follow the book. So far, I liked the format the way the content had been presented.

I bought this book to re-teach myself about HTML. It's very well written and served the purpose I bought it for.

I bought this for a college class, it was required reading/reference. Just me perhaps, but I would rather gouge my eyes out with a rusty nail- it was poorly composed, impossible to follow, and I ended up dropping the class--- after getting an A in Web Design 1, I ended up dropping Web 2, which the instructor chose to base on this horrible book at the last minute. The first semester of a new class, Web 2, and he bases it on this piece of crap.

Item does not look new. Books bent up, discolor and wrote on.

Not very happy. I ordered the 9th edition and received the 8th. I was looking at the differences and the chapters are different and there are sections in the new one that the 8th doesn't have. If it wasn't a huge difference I wouldn't of cared. But since this is for a class, it is now just a huge waste. I can't even return this book for a refund or exchanged.

A little history first: I grew up in the 1960s and 1970s and yes, I smoked pot (and yes, I inhaled). I dabbled in other recreational drugs and I was (am) an alcoholic.I quit drinking alcohol and using any drugs in 1981 - for the benefit of my then 6 year-old son. The last pot I smoked was strong enough that I swore I'd never smoke it again. I was so stoned that my apartment could have burned down around my ears, killing my son and I, because I was too stoned to move.So - 36 years have gone by and somehow I've gotten a hell of a lot older and I have a myriad of health problems. I live in Oregon, where medical and recreational marijuana dispensaries are legal.The whole country is up in arms it seems about the huge opiate problem. Well, you know what? I've been tapering off the oxycodone that I've been on for years that has done a good job of controlling my pain. I'm six weeks from being totally off of it and I'm hurting like hell.I have osteoarthritis, psoriatic arthritis, fibromyalgia, migraines - and more. And I'm ready to try just about anything.What I realized as I started contemplating using marijuana again is that in the "good old days" we didn't measure THC levels or different ways to deliver the effects. We bought what someone told us would give us a good high and after that it was trial by error.This book was just what I needed to help me understand a substance I smoked prodigious amounts of but never really understood.There's a lot of science and chemistry written about in this book. But there's also a lot of easily understood useful information.The book is divided up into sections. It starts out with the history of marijuana use, talks about how different marijuana plants differ from each other, talks a bit about growing but the two sections I liked the most were:1. Different varieties of marijuana plants, levels of the different components in each, best ways to utilize the pot (smoking, vaporizing, oils, tinctures, edibles and more), and best approximations for dosages.2. Different types of physical ailments, diseases, or conditions marijuana can be used to help along with the best varieties for each of those conditions, etc. and best ways to utilize and dose for each condition, etc.I'm not 100% sold on the idea of using marijuana but I've gone from 100% against to probably 90% for. I still do want to discuss this with a couple of my doctors because of my complicated medical history, my history of addiction, and the long grocery list of prescriptions I take.This is a wonderful resource especially if you've been away from the scene for a long time like me or if you are a total newbie.

Being a 2014 release, this has some of the most up-to-date information about the medicinal applications of cannabis, in spite of the fact that even more information has been released since the final edit of this book.The book is not cut up into a bunch of chapters, but four loosely defined “Parts”.In Part 1, you get a conglomeration of cannabis history and biology, but quickly switches up into how cannabinoids work in the body and how they even interact with some prescribed and over-the-counter medications. A good explanation of terpenes and how they augment the affects of the cannabis in the body is here too. Possibly the best book dealing with the “adverse effects” of short-term and long-term use, along with a good few paragraphs about “over-medication” or that bad trip.Part 2 is interesting in its own right. It is titled, “Using Medical Cannabis”, and goes through all the basics that a newbie would have to figure out on their own. Short of having an experienced user to guide you, this is practically the next best thing. Good few pages on contaminants, pesticides, and other adulterants, particularly useful for underground users depending on an unregulated black market for their medicine.“Varieties of Medical Cannabis”, Part 3 is a complete section on common strains and what they are used for. If I have a complaint, it is with this section. Many of the strains mentioned are all old standbys. With all the creative crosses and private grows, you find many non-name and designer strains being used in the medical cannabis community. More information about that, crossed with the terpene section, would have been best to allow a nuanced understanding of how that is linked. You are left to extrapolate everything on your own.Part 4 is where the major component and value of this book comes in, with the “Medical Uses of Cannabis”. This is a fairly comprehensive list of varioius ailments and medical conditions that are treated with medicinal cannabis and the corresponding strains good for those specific conditions. This covers many of the new hot-button studies recently covering anxiety, Alzheimer’s, autism, fibromyalgia, Hep C, MS, Parkinson’s, and PTSD.If you have a family member that is looking for good science based information on using cannabis medicinally, this is a fantastic primer.Most of the information is out there on the internet, but you have to put the pieces together. This is all packaged for you in an easy to read, casual format.

My 2nd grade son ABSOLUTELY loves these books!! And I actually enjoy hearing them. He sat glued to the kindle for an hour the other day!! (I have the others in hard copies) The humor is sarcastic, awesome and perfectly inappropriate for a 2nd grader and keeps him engaged. My favorite part is how many nice challenging words are in there expanding his vocabulary! I bet some of the words would challenge my 7th grader. LOVE LOVE LOVE this book and all the books in this series. Not for the easily offended** Lots of bathroom humor*** Lots of books in the series if they love one they can keep reading!! AWESOME!!

My son loves this book series. He will literally read a whole book in one sit. I've checked them out and can see where they are entertaining. My son is in second grade and these are definitely fostering his love of reading.

We had to download this book because we left the hardcopy at home and my son wanted to read it while out of the house. It kept him laughing and entertained for hours!

My 8 yr old boy could read -but he just did not want to.But this year, our school started a required reading log where all 3rd grade students had to read 100 minutes a week.I was running out of Ranger Rick magazines... when he brought one of these books home from his school library. He was so engrossed in this book that I would talk to him and he just simply did not hear me. I would hear him chuckling and sometimes laughing out loud as he read on and on.... and on. I would tap him on the shoulder and tell him that that his reading time was up and he could go back to his video game. And I kid you not, he shrugged his shoulders and went back to the book!While filling out the reading log for him, I took a good look at the book. It is not a pretty book, but it sure did capture his reading drive. The wording was age appropriate and it encourages him to to read with feeling... yelling, questions, whispers,....A sense of humor is a good thing... I will definitely sponsor this series for him.

I learned so much about life from this book...definitely a great device to encourage the Smart-Alek'd kid to enjoy reading. Also, I must comment on the 'crude' nature (not nasty or anything, but perhaps 'un-polished' is a better word). I think kids can relate to this series of books because it's kinda how they write & understand words at their age (mine is a 7-yr old boy).Yes, Capt. Underpants books are..yes, crude (in the potty-mouthed way), but they have a good plot & just have a way of drawing my son into'the fray' of reading.

Best set of books for a boy to read. My grandson was ok with reading until he received these books. He Loves them and rereads them. Worth every sent because you have to read to succeed in life. The humor in these books are priceless.

My daughter absolutely loves this series! Before this series getting her to read anything was like pulling teeth. To get her to even consider reading these we started reading a few chapters per night before bed. Now she wants to get into bed a little earlier so that she can read a little more. As a member of a very large family of book lovers, I couldn't be happier! They're silly books full of potty humor and intentionally misspelled words (bits of comic books that are supposed to be written by little kids). I think they're cute and it is opening my daughter up to the wonderful world of books.

I bought this to take on my second trip to Minneapolis and St. Paul where my daughter just started college. It's a lovely area, but I don't think the author has been to the Twin Cities. We went to a few of the shops and places mentioned and they were nothing like as described, but huge disappointments. The author assumes you are going to shop only at the Mall of America, but we were looking for small, local places. You can find out where to go from the local magazines in your hotel room. Don't wast your money on this.

I used the 4th edition (2004) of this guidebook to orient me to the Twin Cities on a week-long stay for a conference in 2006, and the book was a terrific resource. I wanted to venture off in my rental car and sightsee, and also, make like the residents eating, drinking, and appreciating neighborhoods. This urban guidebook was excellent. It really primed me for where to go, and also, I had some terrific meals along the way. Made me want to return to the Twin Cities again someday.
