Just buy it. It is over 1000 pages of detailed well organized information. The thousands of photos are high quality. Most book companies would have sold this as a series of 5 or 6 hardcovers at 29.00 each. I know I would have. Most collectors, dealers, scholars would have gladly paid 80 dollars for whats inside without even hesitating. Actually this would make a perfect coffee table book because you can pick it up and "JUST LOOK AT IT." (as Ed Bassmasters charecter Skippy would say) It trully is a work of art just like the pieces within. If you can only buy one book make it this one. There are nice collection and museum pictures. The prices like any price guide are only applicaple if you were in a dream deal scenario with a collector who was a billionaire. Someone I worked with saw this at the bookstore and told me about it having over a thousand pages with pictures and I was sold.
Exhaustive, yes, and lots of great pictures.What it suffers from (not getting 5 stars) are:1: Not easy to tell Actual Sizes of expected arrowheads like other guides that have life-sized examples. THIS is VERY important if you're hunting.2: No real information on the archeology behind them. Just a visual guide with little info.3: Not the most complete set of arrowhead pictures per type. I've personally seen in online guides much more real variety than what I see here, so you can easily collect arrowheads that are difficult to identify by these pictures.4: The counties information is cool, but misleading as it's not a complete idea of where they are most often found. A disclaimer should be included to ensure folks know that many surrounding counties can be just as fruitful hunting.The BOTTOM LINE in Arrowhead identification is SIZE and TYPE and so this is a GREAT ADDITION but by no means complete or perfect.I recommend buying it. But you should also get other guides.Books like "How to Find & Identify Arrowheads and Other Indian Artifacts of the Southeastern United States by Frank Kenan Barnard." for North Carolina are great at showing sizes and giving you more history plus help in identifying good hunting areas for arrowheads.Essentially, this book here is more for figuring out how much to charge for your arrowhead first, identification second.
This book is considered by many collectors to be the "bible", for identifying artifacts. I reference this source almost daily. In addition to artifact id use, this series of books contain many interesting articles on Sites and goings on in the archaeological world. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interest in Indian artifacts - even if you are not a collector.

Being new to arrowhead collecting, this book has helped me tremendously. It has a wealth of knowledge available. There are a huge amount of pictures in this book giving multiple examples of actual found point types organized by region. There is a ton of other information to aide the beginner up to the advanced collector including identification tips, stone types, point type information... I see why this is referred to as the arrowhead bible now.
