This book is such a blessing! It is so helpful and practical. It talks about creating a "rule" which helps us plan out days and create routines that reflect our heart. It is not just about a daily schedule, it is about making prayer, personal growth, marriage and raising kids the focus of our lives. It is a very encouraging book if you feel overwhelmed as a mother. I was just looking for a book to help me get ahold of my days and was so very blessed to find this book which gave me so much more than that. I feel that God has used this book to give me a sense of purpose, and remind me that he called me become a mother and he will always be here with me to lead me on this journey. I highly recommend it to any mother who needs help with things like daily scheduling and chores, but also to any mother who wants God to be at the center of her life and her family's life. This book is written from a Catholic perspective but the ideas and practices can be used for any Christian family.
I really want to love this book. My book club did this book as while back. I just can't get into it. I am not sure if it is the writing style or how her husband seems to be "off the hook" for everything. There is such a focus on schedules, and yet, her husband is never included. My husband is very much a part of our household and is very big into showing our kids that everyone in a household contributes. Yes, his household clean up contributions are much smaller than mine, but he still contributes. There are definitely some really good things in here. Take the parts that work for you and chuck the rest, just like any other self help book.
I love the main ideas in this book but I'm not sure scheduling every moment of every day is for me. I think it relies a bit too much on the schedule aspect, so it can be overwhelming for someone like me who does better with routines, but I appreciate the overall theme of the book about approaching our vocations the same way the religious do. All in all a great book.
I have always been an organized person, but have been struggling with "getting it all done." This book helped me put things into perspective and put top priorities first. This is the perfect book for Catholic moms to get their days organized and still have time left for enjoyable activities. It has already helped me greatly and I just started implementing the ideas!
this book is exactly what I needed, exactly when I needed it. I'm looking forward to implementing my own mother's rule to bring order and peace to my life and home. Holly's writing style is wonderful. she includes her own personal experience to make everything easy to relate to real life. full of practical advice and useful information, this book is sure to be a hit with every Catholic mom! I have a feeling this book is going to change my life for the better.
